Lacus Amyclanus
E’ il piu’ grande dei laghi costieri del lazio e della provincia di Latina . Conosciuto nell’antichita’ col nome di Amyclanus Lacus dal nome dell’antica citta’ che sorgeva nei pressi di Sperlonga. Con la sua forma a falce di luna , aperta verso il mare questo lago salmastro con i bordi frastagliatissimi ha una superficie di circa 4,5 Kmq e un perimetro di oltre 25. Raggiunge una profondita’ di circa 30 metri. Le sue acque sono molto pescose e ricche di cefali,tinche,anguille.
Cosa vedere
I dintorni sono abbastanza interessanti innanzi tutto Terracina con la suo tempio di Giove Anxur e poi l’abitato di Fondi,di origine romana dove si respira pero’ piu’ l’aria della Campania che del Lazio.
Come arrivarci
Da Roma seguire la SS7 Appia fino a Terracina e poi proseguire in direzione fondi , il lago sara’ visibile sulla destra.
It's the largest coastal lakes of Lazio and the province of Latina. Known in ancient times 'with the name of the ancient city name Amyclanus Lacus' which stood near Sperlonga. With its crescent shape of the moon, open to the sea this brackish lake with frastagliatissimi edges has an area of about 4.5 square kilometers and a perimeter of more than 25. It reaches a depth 'of about 30 meters. Its waters are rich in fish and rich in gray mullet, tench, eels.
What to see
The surroundings are quite interesting, first of all Terracina with its temple of Jupiter Anxur and then the town of Fondi, of Roman origins exudes but 'more' air of Campania Lazio.
How to get
From Rome follow the SS7 Appia up to Terracina and then continue towards the funds, the lake will be 'on the right.
